Penguin egg timer
About two years ago
I bought it from a charity shop in Bangor, Gwynedd for all of 50p
I have been going to speedway at Belle Vue from being 6 weeks old, right up to being early teens, so from 1953 - 1967... My Mum was a friend of Peter Cravens girlfriend, so we got to see the riders after the match too, I was in love with Barry Briggs at 8 yrs old. I was always allowed to have just one ride on the merry-go-round, on our way back to catch the bus home, to Heaton Norris, We would pass the water fall ride, but was only allowed to look through the glass so I didn't get wet before getting on the bus, then across to the Wax Works to see the blood covered axe make its way into the wax figure underneath (mind I didn't know then it was wax) High days and holidays we would go to the Zoo a ride on the elephant, the seals and penguins, even the bears, I have always loved going to any zoo which I am sure was due to my earlier years at Belle Vue. We would stay for the fireworks when they were on, the best I had ever seen in my life, and at Christmas time every year we would go to the circus and a massive Christmas party THE best Christmas works outings which my Dad paid for through the year. Its a pity our children of today miss out on all this it was the ground works of my ...childhood, cause if I was naughty I would not get to go to the ZOO
