Mike remembers his nights as a DJ in the dancehalls of Belle Vue
Belle Vue was a rather big ballroom called the Elizabethan, and at the end of the Ballroom through the doors and behind the bar was a Disco called the Elizabethan Disco, so I did that and on a Friday and Saturday night we probably had in that Ballroom about two thousand people. And I did that right through the seventies.
The Ballroom people wanted to stay in the Ballroom and then at the end of the Ballroom was a stage at one end and then at the other end was a long bar and either side of the bar were two doors and those two doors took you into the Disco. The crowd didn’t really mix because they were different scenarios you know, there would be an orchestra playing in the Ballroom and records playing in the Disco.
