If there was no wrestling or it was a different night, whatever, we use to go and it was when Peter Craven was there and Dick Fisher and [Chris Pusey]  and er.... it was wonderful because they didn’t have helmets like they have got now and they use to have to throw the goggles off, they were only like pieces of plastic and they would throw them off to the track and when the race had finished you could dive over it, run and you would be fighting to pick these goggles up.

When the war was on Speedway was still going, and it was when my mum and dad were going out with each other, and they use to sit when you went in the main entrance they use to sit in the first block on the right hand side, but then when I use to go with my dad we use to sit in J block right at the top and I’ve still got that now because my dad worked on the demolition of Belle Vue
