Oral history
Former Belle Vue employee, Grant Hallworth remembers the various weddings which took place on site
I was thinking of the weddings that we had in the suites as well, we had Jewish and Greek weddings and they were amazing because you get hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people coming to them and on the Greek wedding they are pinning all the notes of the Bride you know and all that, so she is a million dollars or a million pound and the food was unusual for us at the time of course.
The Jewish weddings they would make this ice cream, there is no other ice cream in the world like this ice cream that they made and it was made with crushed nuts, lots of different crushed nuts, pistachio’s and everything in a very thick vanilla compound ice cream. They were very friendly an all but they never used our bars, they always brought their own bars and but they used our suites, some of you helped wait on for them but they were fascinating do’s really and we had them all the time you know, and they had them outside the Suites as well, the arches and things for them to go in you know.
